Succession - a Problem of Key Importance
The majority of "Mittelstand"-companies in Germany that were founded in the 1950s, 60s and 70s are still owner-managed, often by their founders
1. Frequently, these very successful entrepreneurs have not implemented an orderly succession plan. Reasons include the lack of a successor within the family or the company, as well as inability of many founders to "let go". Many of the "Mittelstand"-companies are highly dependant on their founder-owners who, as a result, are difficult to replace. Such dependency in case of sudden unexpected departure can lead to a serious crisis in the companies.
The sale of a "Mittelstand"-company to Wieland Capital is a possibility to secure the continuity of the company. In such situations, Wieland Capital very much appreciates working with the founder / owners on a smooth transition that can also entail a gradual acquisition of the company in steps.
